A walk in the woods

So there we were all set to get ready to go out and take our walk with Marco. when we heard it. The Rain. It was coming down like the end of a drought season. we looked at each other and to Marco who was so excited about going  out shrugged our shoulders and said well if we are going to get wet walking it really isn't going to matter when we go. So we bundled into the car. We drove to some woods owned  the company i work for. it is part of the grounds of the wild boar inn, we had previously mentioned this the time we went out for hubbies birthday. Today we actually waked in the woods.

By the time we got there the rain had eased off and we were able to get out of the car and suit Marco up into his coat. as i had tried to do this in the back of the car first before admitting defeat and getting him out into the car park. When he stood there after i thought i was finished i looked at him and thought it looks odd. Walking round him to my hubby's side i saw that his front leg was also through the neck piece. looking at my hubby i asked him why he hadn't said anything. His reply you ask? Oh i thought you had seen it. !!

So after taking it off and putting it back on we set off into the woods. all suited up in our wellies and coats. its quite a steep incline on the way up, with various tractors and diggers along the way. Hubby takes out the ball much to Marco's delight and off he scampered at full speed through the trees revelling in all the smells and all the bushes and trees he could mark. It took no time at all for him to find an impromptu waterfall/stream from the run off of the forest. he started down something he looked got his whole head wet and rolled some off the way down the hill. He jumped up shook it off. and carried on with his exploring.

As it levels out you come to a man made tarn on the property, the track next two it has big grooves perfect for the rain water to collect in and for him to have splashes in. At the side of one of these he started to do the flattie roll on his back which resulted in him flopping over the other way into the puddle ask my husband was stood in the puddle. Hilarious.

after a a quick treat stop (for Marco) we set off again. then just like that he was off towards the lake. Through the reeds until Plop. Splash. Thunder of paws as he ran back up. Drenched. Quickly removing his now very redundant waterproof coat we carried on. Its so peaceful up there with out a soul in sight.

We got round to the other side of the tarn quite well. But then found the actual labelled path very hard to walk  on due to its proximity to the waters edge. We decided to back track and head for higher ground. So again some intense cardio walking, until it dropped down into the original path. Marco in  true style grabbed a very large branch to walk along with. As the leaves fluttered up he takes a great interest in them until he catches it and he realises, it is just, a leaf.

There was one scary moment he ran up to a lookout point and sort of disappeared , and i know it has a steep drop the other side so as i breathe in to yell for him , he appears walking in reverse through the stone crevice. Phew!!

Then it was down the other side of the hill through the section for the clay pigeon shooting and back onto the original track to head back to the car. We got back to car just in time to have big blobs of rain fall on the wind shield.
